My Students

I work at the best elementary school where all our students are on the road to success. My students are part of a Title I school in a big city. We have a very diverse population with students from over 92 countries and many students are English Language Learners.

Walk into my room and you will see the best group of students.

My classroom is a self-contained special education class. We have students with a variety of needs in both educational and life skills. Each student is unique and brings me joy when I see him or her succeed.

My Project

The Secret Stories kit, flashcards, and song videos will help my students with learning to read and spell. The Secret Stories kit has posters to help my students recall the stories and use the secrets when reading or writing. I even have the perfect spot picked out to put the posters! The book in the kit includes the stories as well as extras to support me while teaching my students to be readers and writers. The flashcards will be used to help my students learn and practice the secrets and in return my students will be able to put the letters and sounds they create when we come to unknown words when we are reading. My students will also be able to use the secrets to help them spell words when they are creating writing pieces.

Reading and spelling can be hard for some kids.

Learning all the rules for what sounds a letter or letter combination makes so you can read and write can be a daunting task for a child. Using the Secret Stories I am hoping my students will be able to master all the rules when reading and spelling words! Plus who doesn't want to know a secret?
