My Students

Students in the AVID class are hard-working and determined to be high school and college graduates.

AVID students are a group of 7th and 8th grade students.

They attend school in Philadelphia. While students have big goals, sometimes those goals seem unattainable when you consider the barriers they face. Many of them come from single parent homes and live in poverty.

My Project

My students need school supplies! They need new sturdy binders with dividers to keep their work for classes organized and pencil pouches to hold their supplies to be successful. In the AVID class students will learn organization and study skills that they can use in high school and college. They will learn how to take notes and to ask questions. We assume that students will know how to do these things, but many don't. They need these supplies to help them stay on track!

The skills the students use in the AVID class are skills they will need to be successful in high school and college.
