This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fifth graders are best described as energetic and determined students. Although these students come from various income situations, I admire how no matter what type of morning they may have had at home or on the bus, they come to me smiling and ready to learn something new. My students love to interact with each other and feed off each others' knowledge in open discussions.

They are always looking for new ways to be engaged throughout the lesson, even if it is something as simple as taking notes.

These fifth graders are excepting of new challenges with open minds. When their "light bulbs" go off, they are filled with just as much inner satisfaction as I am.

My Project

Since my students are from various economic situations, the school decided to buy the recommended materials. Being a first year teacher, I didn't fully understand what students really needed to be fully successful. I believe the materials that I am requesting, such as pencils, dry erase markers, and simple copy paper will go a long way for my students.

Students need their own materials to feel responsible and included in the lesson.

These supplies will help my students feel prepared each day because it will be tucked in their desk, waiting to be used for learning. I consider these materials, the basic needs for a successful student.
