This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students in my classroom have a unique set of mobile and sensory needs. Having flexible seating in the classroom as well as an easel that can meet them where they are at meets their needs in a way that traditional rows of desks/chairs cannot. We are a small class of 3rd grade autistic students from diverse backgrounds. The goal is to teach reading, writing, math, science lessons, etc... from a non-conventional or pre-planned meeting area each time we learn. Rather, having flexible seating options will allow for on the spot logistical decisions in order to maximize learning for all students throughout the day.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
