it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Last school year, I introduced the jump rope unit in my physical education class. Growing up, it seemed like the ability to jump rope was natural, fun, and easy. Fast forward to now being a teacher, I quickly discovered that students simply do not know how to jump rope anymore.
That had to change!
I created a school-wide incentive to improve jumping rope, by creating a "Jump Rope Competition." The students were motivated to learn how to jump rope and improve their skills. Students practiced in P.E. class, at their recess time, and even at home to prepare for the competition.
Most students do not have the opportunity to be involved in extra-curricular activities. This competition gave students the opportunity to learn new skills, set goals, and accomplish them! They had success!
This year we want the competition to be even bigger and to be able to provide jump ropes to all students who wish to compete! Although jump ropes are affordable, not all families are able to provide this simple tool that creates so many benefits!
With your help, we can show students that anything is possible if you set a goal, apply yourself, and have a strong community supporting you!
