My project needs 11 different school items, such as pencils, pencil grips, crayons, markers, erasers, sharpeners, scissors, glue, pencil boxes/pouches, and name labels.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher in need of homework supplies for my students. The students I am honored to teach all come from a low income household. Therefore, every year they are faced with many obstacles in completing their homework assignments and home projects.
Anytime I assign homework that involves coloring, cutting, or gluing, the students have a hard time completing the assignment because of missing resources. Even though many of the parents have several jobs, it is still difficult for them to spend money on a pair scissors or glue since they have enough expenses to worry about. When these young students come in to class knowing that their assignment has not been completed, they are embarrassed to give an explanation. Having these feelings can discourage them to want to learn and it's unfortunate to feel that way at such a young age.
Homework is not just busy-work, but it allows them to review what was covered in class, it increases comprehension of all subjects, and it's the bridge that joins school and parents. With this donation, my students will be able to complete their homework successfully and review everything that was taught. You will contribute to each child's achievement by providing them with pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, glue and a container to store all of these items in.
You can help my students' hard working parents by providing them with simple homework materials that their child will need all year long.
