Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am an elementary PE teacher and most of my students come from low income backgrounds. They really appreciate all the games that we play and will love using scooters. My special needs children especially love any tactile equipment, such as a scooter, which gives them comfort.
All my students will love to be pushed on a scooter, gliding across the play area in a safe environment, while playing a game.
These games build trust and all the students will be taught how to use the scooters in a proper way before using them. Safety is the first concern and my students will be responsible and use the scooters properly.
The students will use the scooters during a nutrition unit where they will glide across the play area collecting different food groups to create a nutritious plate as a team. We will also have relay races with one student riding and another pushing and then they will switch. This will build trust and confidence in all the students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
