Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students have identified a growing concern in our school community—many students come to school without a morning snack or go home without enough food to eat. To address this, our students are launching a school-wide initiative called “Snack Packs for All,” aimed at reducing hunger and making sure every student has access to a healthy snack during the day.

Led by students in 4th grade the team will organize, assemble, and distribute snack packs to every classroom each week.

These packs will include nutritious, non-perishable snack items like granola bars, fruit cups, crackers, and trail mix. Every student will be able to take a snack when they need one—no questions asked.

This project serves our entire school community by supporting students who may not have consistent access to food at home or during the school day. Hunger can negatively affect focus, behavior, and participation in class. By ensuring that every student has something to eat, we are improving not only wellness but also equity in learning.

The snack items we’re requesting will directly fuel this student-led initiative. Students will take charge of organizing donations, managing inventory, designing signage, and coordinating weekly distributions. Their leadership and compassion are the heart of this project, and they’re excited to make a real impact on their peers’ daily lives.
