Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Pre-K through 3rd grade special education in an Extensive Support Needs classroom, where my students have high sensory needs and benefit greatly from hands-on, interactive learning.
To help my students build foundational literacy skills in a way that works best for them, we’re hoping to receive:
• Tactile uppercase, lowercase, and number sets to help students connect letter names with how they feel
• Tactile liquid letters to use with our light box during letter centers
• Felt boards for displaying work and supporting interactive small group learning
• Giant magnetic letters to bring our “Letter of the Week” lessons to life
• Uppercase and lowercase letter stamps to support letter recognition and matching activities in small groups
These sensory-rich materials will give my students more opportunities to learn in a way that feels natural and engaging.
