This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in one of the highest poverty areas in our nation. Despite their economic hardships, my students come to school eager and ready to learn. They have expressed their dismay at the new situation. I have students that are eager to attend after school programs and Saturday School. It has been extremely difficult for them to be away from school. However, they have courageously undertaken the Remote Learning Journey. I am astonished at how well they are able to navigate through the classroom. I am bursting with pride because they log onto the classroom every single day without fail because of their determination to continue their education along with the self-discipline they possess.
My Project
My students have expressed how much they miss being in school. I would like to give them a bit of encouragement as they engage in remote learning. Most of my students love to draw. I'd like to send them a care package with a drawing book, some markers, and a few treats. In addition, my students enjoyed writing with felt tip pens. I'm sure they miss their writing tools. The ease of the felt tip pen makes writing easier for them. My students also have special needs. They need the special writing paper that we used in school.
My students persevere although they have learning disabilities and often skills don't come as easy to them as their other peers.
I would like to acknowledge my students and show them that I recognize the responsibility they are demonstrating. I want to show them how awesome they are as they actively participate and complete assignments.
I want to show how much I appreciate them for their determination, working cooperatively with others online, and continuing in this remote course of learning despite running into some difficulties.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
