Students Enjoying the Snoezelen Room

Help me give my students sensory processing tools such as a body pod, sensarock inflatable rocker, squishy balls, snuggle wrap, and more that will benefit my students by providing ways for them to calm, relax, and soothe themselves.

My Students

I am a Special Education teacher at a Title I school in a Low-Incidence classroom. My students have multiple exceptionalities and medical needs. A Low-Incidence classroom consists of the more challenging Special Education students. Most of my students stay with me all day.

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." This statement holds true in my classroom.

We do things differently to meet everyone's needs in the class. My students are able to use the sensory room connected to my classroom. This makes it easier to control behaviors or anxiety that some students might experience throughout the day. I need sensory processing tools that will benefit my students when the classroom becomes too much to process.

My Project

I chose a body pod because it provides deep touch pressure input and good self-regulation for calming and providing spatial boundaries. The mudball set, yuck-e-ball, squishy, fun fidget, and ball massage with a stick can be used as a fidget, finger strengthener. The different balls provide tactile and visual feedback to aid in fine motor control and sensory processing. The snuggle wrap allows a child to nestle inside to feel a sense of resistance, balance, deep pressure input, and ability to move the body slowly and effectively. It helps with anxiety. The weighted dog neck pillow is an alternative to a weighted blanket. It offers deep pressure input. Sensarock aides with fidgets, anxiety, and sensory awareness. The chew necklaces are a safe way to use oral motor input to assist in minimizing anxiety and stress.

Sensory processing tools can calm, relax, and soothe all the different exceptionalities in my class.

The other items I am requesting will be used by the students for self-calming. Another use of the sensory products is to provide activities which give muscles and joints significant use and pressure.
