it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A few things I love about my students are how excited they are each day for whatever is thrown at them. They are resilient and exhibit positive attitudes. I love the way they are always willing to try and learn new things.
My Project
Did you get to sit down and enjoy different activities due to the extra amount of time we were given during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns? As for me, I was able to do many things, like painting and jewelry making, during that time that I otherwise would have found difficult to squeeze into my schedule with the demands of normal, daily life. If I could say one positive thing has come from this historical, life-changing event is that we view and utilize our time much differently. My hope for this project, is to allow students the opportunity to take some time away from the craziness of his/her lives to sit down and enjoy a stress relieving activity while also creating a rad piece of art.
I've had the opportunity this school year to watch my students set everything aside, visit with friends in a calm environment, listen to some music, and relax while scratching away at these pieces.
The students have thoroughly enjoyed this and I have loved watching their faces light up when they see how cool it is. The funny thing is, they don't even realize they are gaining skills by doing such an enjoyable project. A few of those skills include a tremendous amount of focus (away from an electronic device), fine motor skills in their hands, a sticktoitiveness to complete a project, and a sense of pride in something they have done all on their own. I hope I can continue to give my students this opportunity through the donations of Donors Choose.
