This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade students are creative learners that are full of questions and eager to learn. Although they cannot be in the classroom, they check in everyday and complete all their assignments on time. They are full of hope. They have adapted to changing times in order to continue learning. Nothing can stop them!
My Project
These linking cubes and double sided counters are essential during distance learning math lessons. I've asked students to gather pennies, beads, beans or any other things around their house they can count with but it is so hard to manage. Some roll, others are too big, too small and some are simply not adequate for our lesson. It would be great for all of our students to be using the same materials. It will give them a sense of what it was like in our classroom. We need this sense of stability and unison even if we can't be in the same place.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
