My Project
Many students have never had the opportunity to take private music lessons. I have developed a method to give students an opportunity to learn certain instruments normally reserved for private lessons. Each class will be formed into bands. Each band will learn together at a station. For example, there will be a music theory station, and also a Rock Band Station. At the Rock Band Station, students will have an opportunity to practice together as a band. The bands will rotate every few minutes so that each band has a turn at each station. To start out this year, students will learn the notes C, F, and G on the staff, and on the keyboard. They will learn that these are the bass notes for the chords C, F, and G. They will learn these three simple chords on Piano and Guitar, and also play the notes on a bass guitar. These are the three chords in the song "La Bamba", which is the first song the bands will learn to perform, followed by "Lean on Me", and other favorites. Learning chords will open a whole world of musical possibilities for the students - and could change the trajectory of undiscovered musicians!
