You know you have heard the question asked to students for hundreds of years...."What did you do at school today?" The typical answer has always been, "Nothing." What if we could change how students and parents thought about that question?
My class is made up of 19 of the greatest students that any teacher could ever ask for.
Don't let their shyness fool you, when it comes to learning they know how to get excited. My students are in the fourth grade and have been together for two years. We are called a looping classroom. They are a group that cooperatively works together to reach common goals. We have built what we call our "school family". My students attend a public school in a rural area. Some of our students do not have what others might, but they still come to class everyday with an absolute love of learning. They all make coming to school very easy for me.
My Project
This project would be used to help shatter the typical answer given today..."I did nothing at school today." I envision this tool will also help to share my student's passion for learning. We would like to purchase the Flip Video so that we can video the activities, lessons, projects, and programs that our students participate in but don't always share when they go home. As a teacher I would be able to video lessons and make them available for students when they go home to work on their homework. Students will be able to take accountability for their work as they share their work via videos. We are constantly performing plays, singing songs, working cooperatively in groups, and enjoying learning. Parents will have the opportunity to use these videos to see what their students are doing in school, get help with a concept that they might not understand, or to get motivated to come and volunteer in our classroom.
Videos will be easily accessed through our blog and website.
I believe that this project will change the way my students and I look at our classroom.
One thing that we all have a passion for is sharing our successes with others. This will be an incredible way to show that you can have high expectations and still have fun doing it! I believe parents will also be extremely happy with the opportunity to share in the excitement of our classroom! Thank you so much for supporting our project!!
