My Project

One of the pillars of Civics education in our state is discussing current and controversial issues.

For many students, finding and using their voice in discussions and group projects is a challenge.

Whether students are shy, speak a primary language other than English, or have an ability barrier, I want to be able to support each and every student in sharing their voice in our discussions, projects, and simulations.

The QBall microphone will not only [literally] amplify student voice but will also serve as a talking-piece that can be tossed around the classroom. This extra piece of engagement helps to ensure that only the speaker is talking, and all other students are listening to understand.

The button maker will support students during our presidential campaign and election simulation. In this simulation, students work in groups to create a political campaign in pursuit of being elected as the Class President. Being able to make buttons will allow groups to share their voice on REAL campaign materials. The buttons also support students in sharing a message that is clear and concise, as you can only fit so much on a button.
