Student Stations and Math Project Fun

Help me give my students the missing stations materials and project supplies to make math class more fun and engaging.

My Students

Our school brings together the city and suburbs for grades 6-8. My classes are inclusive, with special education students, ELL students and regular education students. I teach on one of the 6th grade teams and share my students with 4 other teachers. Together we make up the team 6-2 family.

My students are energetic, inventive, eager learners and represent a variety of cultures and range of income levels.

All students are provided with daily free breakfast and lunch. They are greeted each day as they walk in the door and enter with a smile, ready to be the best learners they can be. Together we strive to build a community based on respect and a love of learning.

My Project

In math class we run stations almost daily. Having the small white board markers will make it easier to write for the students. The dry erase pockets will be used to place worksheets in and then the kids can reuse, erase, and practice and not worry about needing a pencil. Not all kids like doing everything digitally. So it is a good way to differentiate. I can also use them to put directions into at each station. It is different, more fun for kids and environmentally friendly! Less paper is always a good thing!

The supplies are fun and allow for more engaging small group instruction as well individualized support when they need it during class time!

The other supplies are for the enrichment project my students will be working on. Stations help with kids who need support but I also plan to offer a higher level project dealing with scale drawing. The large white paper is for kids to be able to enlarge a picture of their choice. The sharpies are for them to outline their project before they color. Finally the duck tape is for them to display their project in the hallway! This project is great and lets the kids share some of their interests with me!
