Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our NHS students work hard to achieve success. We are a Title I and an international school and most of the students will be first generation college students.
Our students deserve a level playing field and honors to include on college and scholarship applications.
Only twenty five students are in the National Honor Society currently and the dues for the National Honor Society are the same for every school, regardless of size of program or demographics of the school. We only found out this week that the school and district will no longer help us with our dues, which are due in June. It is not feasible for us to raise the necessary funds to remain part of the National Honor Society with this late notice.
Our students are used to working hard and I will push them to continue their commitment to community service and high academic records. They depend on this honor and membership to help propel their success on college applications, scholarships, and internship applications.
