This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I am teaching a wonderful group of twenty-eight, fourth graders. They are sweet and kind and they love coming to school to see their friends and learn more each and everyday. My school campus is a very positive and upbeat place where everyone works as a team and where the students are the heart of all of our decisions. All of the staff is happy to come to work to see the students learn and grow on a daily basis. I could not ask to teach at a better campus!

My Project

I feel that it is very important to acknowledge and to recognize my students' positive behaviors and academic achievements. One way that I try to motivate them is by allowing them to earn exciting cool prizes. Once a week, we have our "Class Store" where students save up their tickets that they have earned, and they can then spend the tickets on things in the store. As educational budgets continue to be cut, and as my credit card bill continues to grow, it is becoming harder and harder for me to be able to continue to provide cool, new and exciting prizes, and incentives for my students.

I need a variety of fun, exciting rewards and prizes for my students to earn so that they know that I appreciate them and that I am proud of their positive behavior choices and academic achievements.

They will earn "tickets" through out the day by being respectful, responsible, and safe. Once a week, usually on Thursdays, we will have "store" time where they will get to buy prizes with their tickets. The hope is that they will continue to make these positive choices in the future, which also supports a new initiative at my school called PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). The items that I have chosen for this project are things that my students want to have as choices for the prizes in our "store."
