Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and they are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. They are also students who have special needs.
Parents do their best to provide the bare essentials that their kids need throughout the school year, but many times that is all that they can give them.
Many of the families have at least four kids in the school. Due to the current circumstances, it is a lot to ask a family to purchase materials when some of them most likely may have lost their jobs. Although the parents and the school community do their best to provide for the children, with the fear of what the future may bring, and the loss of jobs it will be harder to provide them with tools for learning.
My Project
As the school year has progressed my students have found it difficult and stressful to organize and complete their assignments with Google learning. They have made the best effort in trying to organize their time without a planner.
They need to be able to write their assignments down so that they can manage their time spent on a computer as well as their time reading materials.
A student planner is a tool that will alleviate stress for my students as well. They will be more confident about their assignments and achievements.
