My students need 150 binders to help them take ownership and keep track of their writing and reading progress throughout the school year.

My Students
My 9th graders are students who are trying to navigate their way through high school. I want them to be able to track their progress in English Language Arts throughout the school year. It can be difficult tracking students' progress without binders for them to store their work in.
My school focuses on our students taking ownership of their work in the classroom.
Through socratic seminars and student led groups, my students are doing just that. As high school educators, we want students to leave for college with an understanding that they must learn to take pride in their strengths and work to improve their weaknesses.
My Project
The binders will help each student organize writing and reading projects throughout the school year. Once students have their work in a safe place, they can begin to track reading and writing goals, progress with reading levels, and assessments according to Common Core Standards. These binders will become their student data binders.
The student data binders will allow students to take ownership by setting goals and tracking them before, during, and after each unit.
Students will learn that their progress in reading and writing relies on them not just the teacher. They will become motivated and reflective learners.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
