This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm looking at making some kits for my students to help them take notes in class. Using different colors to annotate different portions of work (such as vocabulary, problem solving, or general notes) + highlighters to look for key information in word problems. A protractor will be to help with graphing, and all of it put in a simple pouch for each student.

The goal is to get students to write more, even in a class they think doesn't have much writing (math).

Much of their problems are word problems and involve more critical thinking skills and analysis than they may be used to seeing in math. I want to get them to organize their thoughts and develop ways of sorting information.
