This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking. They come from a low socioeconomic area of New York, and they never allow their circumstances to dictate how their days should go despite how most of their days start. This year I work with a group of students that need exposure to a more rigorous curriculum.
All of my students' access to meet the grade requirements started off shaky, but they are making gains every day.
Through project-based work, they will have every opportunity to meet and exceed the requirements.
My Project
Due to COVID restrictions, students are not able to share our current classroom library. This project will allow them the opportunity to practice comprehension skills and expand their libraries at home. Without these books and online resources, our students cannot read daily as needed. This project will avail them of reading opportunities that do not currently exist. As they are eager to read daily with limited resources they are not able to read daily. Our current online system is only available until 3 pm and these books will allow reading opportunities at home.
