Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a diverse range of students in a less traditional setting than what one imagines for public schools in Texas. My students are online learners who are looking for an educational structure that allows them to work at their own pace while still receiving the support they need to meet their diverse needs.
My Project
The virtual setting poses its own set of challenges for students. Without the face to face component, it is hard to ensure students stay motivated and engaged.
I will use the $5 Amazon, Sonic, and Starbucks gift cards to reward students for engagement and performance excellence in our online English class; this will serve as motivation while showing students that their hard work is noticed and rewarded.
The $25 gift cards will be sent to the top-performing students at the end of the semester. The postage stamps will be used to send the incentives to my deserving students.
