My Students
The kids I see everyday are the very BEST! They are students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade of various backgrounds, ages and cultures coming together to learn, love and laugh!
My students are kind, curious, thoughtful and energetic; I LOVE to teach them skills and strategies to help guide them in their lives.
My hopes in collaborating with the public is to fund a hair club for my students. Students will be able to come to my classroom before school starts and learn basic hair care, tips and tricks. I am hoping this will help with self-care, self-esteem and will build lasting friendships.
My Project
Sources state that 78 percent of girls with low self-esteem admit that it is hard to feel good in school when you do not feel good about how you look. I am choosing to do a Donors Choose in hopes to fund a new club, a student hair club! Low self-esteem among girls is a problem most face at some time in their lives. Once formed, this negative view permeates every thought, which can produce ongoing self-defeating behavior. Research shows that a girl's self-esteem peaks at age 9, then takes a dive.
The hair products and accessories I am asking for will help my students start their day off on a positive note: learning basic hair care, tips and tricks in hopes to help with self-care, self-esteem and building lasting friendships!
The products chosen will be used in the club, but given to the students to take home to use at their leisure. They can bring the items back to school to continue learning and growing.
