This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic, clever, energetic, unique learners on the autism spectrum (ASD). Although their challenges may range from difficulties with daily activities such as socializing, following directions, staying on task, developing functional skills, and self-regulation they constantly amaze me with their abilities. Like many people on the spectrum, my students have sensory hyper/hyposensitivities to a variety of things and their learning styles and levels differ.
TpT gives me the opportunity to provide my students with grade-level work based on their abilities.
Although their distinct learning styles are met on a one-to-one basis using various strategies, their awareness of their peers and their personalities have contributed to continued engagement while learning.
My Project
My students are a great group of exceptional students in a blended second, third, and fourth-grade class who are on the autism spectrum. Even within each grade level, their abilities differ, this project will help them have grade-level written materials to achieve grade-level standards.
The materials available through TeachersPayTearcher vary and offer my students student-friendly, easy-to-read supplies which may offer the opportunity to improve other skills such as fine motor skills (cutting), listening (following instructions), and task completion.
The beginning of the school year has been challenging, however, I am confident in their abilities, and given the right tools, they will succeed.
