Student DJs Making Music Dance Exercise Will Be Epic

Help me give my students the Pioneer DJ Controller to connect our computer devices to make their own unique dance music. Creating dance music will encourage students to exercise by dancing and sweating to their own creative sounds.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are amazing learners. Each one has their own extraordinary way of learning. My students come from different cultural backgrounds (English learners), with various social-emotional needs, as well as diverse learners (special needs students). They are critical thinkers and work hard, which is why they are able to overcome social-emotional obstacles that we, unfortunately, have experienced from virtual/hybrid learning. I have seen their creativity using technology and their determination to do their best. They are ready to create/innovate new ways of learning by utilizing music and dance technology.

This school year left out several extracurricular activities one being our dance exercise program and by students creating their own dance music, it will inspire them to start exercising through dance.

It was frustrating not having after-school extracurricular activities such as sports, dance groups, and band/music. They are still motivated to end the school year by incorporating some creativity in making dance music and fuse it with our end-of-the-year virtual yearbook project.

My Project

The Pioneer DJ Controller will be instrumental to our students' dance exercise program since they will create their dance music by using DJ programs. For example, this technological musical component will connect our devices and by downloading DJ programs such as Serrato DJ or Magic Music Maker. Our students will then take turns creating their own dance music for our exercise dance program. It will motivate them to develop their own music and choreographing dance moves, resulting in exercising in a unique way with their classmates forming their dance groups.
