My Students
My students are a diverse group of thinkers and learners who come together in the spirit of learning. We are a public, urban Montessori middle school, and, as a school that opened three years ago, we are still emerging and growing as a community. We are located in a historically diverse and low-income community. 77% of our students receive free and reduced price lunch.
My students love reading!
They come to middle school with an enthusiasm for their educations and form a strong community. Our Montessori classroom experience is focused on educating the whole child and creating lifelong learners.
My Project
When students find a books and series they love, they stay engaged in reading for weeks on end. In looking for new books for our classroom library, I asked students to research authors, books, and series that they wanted to read.
The books in this project are direct requests from students.
We love having books in our classroom, and it would be nice to have some fresh titles and complete series.
Our classroom needs high-interest, engaging, young-adult series to promote a culture of literacy among my 7th and 8th grade students. I want to make sure there is enough reading material readily available to cultivate and sustain life-long reading and learning for my students.
