This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. My campus is a Title I school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to read, communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students, and they know it!
My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.
At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best at everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.
My Project
I am more than happy to create this book project with a selection of chapter books chosen by my students. I am passionate about instilling a love of reading in children no matter their learning style and level. I believe that student choice is the key to turning students into readers. Every year I get to see my students become readers and that makes me beyond proud! From avid readers to reluctant readers, my kiddos are sure to find something to read that they enjoy. No matter the age of a child, learning comes from books.

As a School Librarian, I read aloud to my students every single day! I thought it would be a great idea to ask them for some books they were interested in since our library consists of books that have been previously chosen by me. They came up with this list and I would love some support in funding this project for them!
