Aloha everyone! STUDENT CHOICE AND STUDENT VOICE is vital in any class! These kiddos are sitting in their chairs for 8hrs a day! At times it can be very hard to keep focus if we are sitting in chairs all day. These flexible seating options, including wobble stools, floor cushions, and floor seats, will allow my kiddos to have a voice and choice in the classroom.
Creating a sense of ohana is a vital aspect of our classroom, this means providing them with new, comfortable, and exciting classroom seating options and learning areas, which will then lead to strong relationships partnered with student choice and voice.
I will be using these materials throughout the whole day when I have my kiddos in my class. For example, during our math rotations, I allow my kiddos to move around and now they will get the chance to choose different seating options to help them focus. During reading rotations, my kiddos will be able to read their reading book around the room comfortably. Lastly, when my kiddos just need some time to themselves, they can just grab a seat and cool down for a moment.
