My Project

My elementary art curriculum has moved to a student-centered classroom model called TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior). In this model, students are provided authentic art-making opportunities through a choice-based concept. The classroom has been turned into a kid’s art studio that uses a learning-centered approach. We expand our knowledge and draw inspiration from different artists to create our own work.

This way of teaching enables students to become confident young artists, and instills skills they can use in other areas in life!

I have approx. 830 K-5 students and it costs a lot to supply them with materials needed to create the T.A.B way. Students create original artwork and projects using inspiration from artists they learn about but are provided the resources to create in their own way.

Providing students the opportunity to create this way requires a high level of organization and management. Supply/ storage bins are needed to make the TAB art room as functional as possible. Architecture materials, trade books with creative ideas, and many other items are needed to conduct art classes as different “studios”. Assistance with a variety of consumable materials would be super helpful to continue teaching this way.
