My Project

I teach the most amazing and unique second graders around! My classroom is very diverse, including English language learners, special education students, and students receiving speech, language, or behavioral support. What unites us as a community is that each child comes to school with a deep desire to create, solve problems, and learn each day. This project is for chairback organizers and glides to go on the desk chairs' feet.

Being organized helps kids easily get what they need quickly in order to complete tasks and optimize learning time.

Rather than searching for misplaced books, supplies, or chromebooks, I want my students to have a place for everything.

Each "seat sack", as the kids call them, has several pockets large enough to store a Chromebook, a personal dry erase board, and 2-3 library books. These are the items students need to be able to access easily and quickly in a moments' notice. We get these items out and put them away countless times in a day. Having this extra storage also keeps their desk space free for textbooks and workbooks, as well as seat work papers that may get crumpled if their desk becomes overcrowded. Our admin also appreciates us taking better care of textbooks that will be used for future years.

The chair feet glides are basically like tennis balls slipped over the chair feet and they save our linoleum floors from becoming scratched. They also cut down on noise from lots of moving chairs, which is always a plus.
