Help me give my students wobble cushions, Bouncy Bands, an ottoman to enhance their learning environment and take ownership of their own individual thinking process.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are at the age of realizing their potential and capabilities for their future. Their minds are always thinking and curious, full of ideas. They have so many questions every day about the why, how, or what ifs.
They have so much energy and enthusiasm for learning even after Hurricane Harvey.
While a year has passed, some of my students are still recovering from the natural disaster. They still manage to be at school and are ready to go forward.
In my classroom, we are always learning in different styles whether it is through cooperative groups, paired partners, hands-on labs, or differentiated projects. I love what I do and my students know it.
My Project
My students, even though in middle school, are constant movers, which greatly impacts their learning and focus. Positive effects take place when students have choice seating.
Flexible seating will empower them to take charge of their meaningful collaboration, movement, individual focus, and build responsibility for learning.
The Bouncy Bands where chosen to give mobility to students feet while in their desk and focused on the lesson. The wobble cushions and the ottoman will allow students to actively engage in the lessons without thinking about moving around to get comfortable. The ottoman could also serve as a place for me to help students in a smaller setting. Flexible seating gives students choices for their learning environment and allows them to freely move without losing focus or distracting other students. In addition to the flexible seating, the tablet screen covers for the Kindle Fires would keep the devices in great shape for years to come and give future students the accessibility they need as well.
