Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is a great way for students to see how they grew throughout the year as an artist! Each month students will have a different picture to draw related to that month (a penguin with snowflakes for January or a flamingo wearing sunglasses for June).
At the end of the school year, I take these drawings and make them into a calendar (for the upcoming summer and school year) for students.
Their faces when they see their creations is priceless and make me so proud of them! Often times they comment on how they have improved over the year.
This is where the markers and cardstock are needed! In order to make the calendars durable, I print my students’ artwork onto cardstock. Markers are used to make their pictures more vibrant as well as more visible when copying their pictures (I’ve found in the past that crayons and even colored pencils just aren’t as bright). This is where you can help! Getting these materials into the hands of my students provides an outlet to express their artistic creativity, and the finished product is always something they are proud of!
