Student Artists With the Fire to Create

Help me give my students the basic supplies of colored pencils, markers, sharpies and sharpeners along with a few more basics to give the students a whole world of opportunities.

My Project

Coming from homes where they have little, I like to think the art room is a sanctuary for my students. I see over 460 students coming and going all week in the art room. With all these students, I am fortunate to see some amazing talent. Unfortunately, with minimal budgets, our opportunities to purchase supplies have become a problem.

Most of these students come from struggling families, and having art is an opportunity for them to show off their talents - and boy, these students are talented!

Giving my students the opportunity to explore their creativity is my number-one goal. However, without basic supplies it can be challenging. With this many students coming into art a week, we go through so much paper and put all drawing materials to good use.

We have used every colored pencil and crayon down to the nibs. The markers are dry and our paintbrushes have seen better days. For a school wide project, I will be celebrating the diversity in culture our school has. From kindergarten to 6th grade, there are a variety of materials I would like for them to explore. Receiving my project goal will bring so much joy and energy to my students!
