Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach 6th-graders at a middle school in the Bronx. We typically have about 120 6th-graders, 7th-graders, and 8th-graders. My school has a diverse group of learners that come from all walks of life. This in itself makes my school very special.
Our students are not only learning from the teachers but the students teach and inspire teachers on a daily basis.
Our school grounds itself as being a family and a tight-knit community. Daily, before the start of the instructional day students participate in activities in order to build community with those in their advisory. This sets them up for success for the remainder of the day. Students are more comfortable with trying a rigorous tasks in their classes. Students support each other throughout the day whether it is in an academic or social setting. They are constantly implementing feedback from teachers and peers. Our students work extremely hard day in and out and deserve to be appreciated for their hard work.
My Project
Due to Covid-19, many students have not been in the building for over a year. This school year will be one to remember as many students are eager and excited to come back into the building.
At my school, we want to capitalize on this excitement and reward our students for all the hard work that they will be doing.
Our students have gone through a rough time and deserve to be appreciated. Throughout the year we will be awarding Class Dojo points that can be traded in for awesome prizes.
