My Students

The students in my classroom are preschool aged students (3-5 years) In a developmental preschool setting. We are privileged to have a multicultural, multilingual, economically diverse group of students with special needs. Many of these students have had little exposure to supplies such as glue sticks, painting, scissors and tape. The kids love to do art projects and work creatively with materials. Adding tape to our writing center would add another material to build their masterpieces while improving their fine motor and thinking skills.

My Project

By having tape available to my students, they will learn how to responsibly use supplies, create in an open ended environment and personalize their work. The tape and dispenser will be available in the writing center where they can access it independently to decorate their work. While using the tape and the dispenser, they will learn to use two hands together, design projects and practice sharing! I feel it is important for our kids to learn these functional skills in these early childhood years as it will build a more solid foundation for success as they move on to higher learning.
