My students need informational books about magnets and sets of magnets for our science unit.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Sei's classroom raised $238
This project is fully funded
My Students
Stuck with no working magnets! The set of magnets in my classroom are three times older than my students. These magnets no longer have enough force to pick up a pin.
Our school is a public school located in Philadelphia with students from many ethnicities and socioeconomic classes.
My first-grade class consists of 32 students. Of the 32, half are English language learners (ELL) who are identified at the lower socioeconomic level. Many of the parents are immigrants and encourage their children to do well in school.
My Project
My students love science and the hands on activities that go with it. When learning about various science topics, they enjoy observing, exploring and manipulating objects to confirm their predictions. My students will be able to use the scientific method to confirm their predictions after testing various objects for magnetic force using these magnets. Some of these magnets will be placed in centers in my room where students can access them to learn more about magnetic force.
If you were to be so generous as to fund this project, my current and future students would benefit greatly from using these magnets.
They will learn about the fascinating force of magnetism. I will also use magnetism lessons to reinforce the process of the scientific method. Who knows? These lessons may inspire some of them to become future scientists.
