My students need ukuleles and tuners to learn essential musicianship skills. They will learn important musical concepts such as matching pitch when tuning the instruments, rhythm while strumming chords, and harmony while learning different chord patterns.
One of the best ways to foster a love of music in a child is by teaching him or her how to play a musical instrument. Unfortunately, I teach in a high needs school where many students do not have the means to pursue private music lessons.
I strive to make sure that my students get an enriching and individualized experience in my general music class.
My students love to sing and perform. Incorporating more instruments will give them a focused outlet for their musical talents.
My Project
Ukuleles, in addition to being a popular instrument choice in contemporary music, are a great tool for learning to read, write and perform music. Additional ukuleles will ensure that every child gets to play the instrument.
The skills that my students gain from ukulele will be easily transferable to playing the guitar or other string instruments as they get older.
The ukulele lays a groundwork of musicianship that will be valuable for my students for the rest of their lives.
My students will be able to play engaging and relatable pop songs on the ukulele in addition to many educational folk tunes. After learning the first two or three chords on the ukulele, a world of music becomes accessible to them!
