Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The items I have chose to put on my list include organizational tools as well as materials the students will use on a daily basis. I personally love to give students the quickest access to their materials so they have the consistency to thrive each day. When students know exactly where their materials are to be kept they begin to take autonomy into their learning, encouraging them to put their learning into their hands, creating skillful life long learners. Having organizational tools in the classroom can teach students how to be more independent while increasing student engagement and learning time.
The students in my classroom may come to school as a safe space and organization is essential to their success.
My goal for this project is to equip the students with the materials they need daily. I try to steer students away from technology and teach them more about motor skills and natural creativity. With teaching creativity and motor skills comes more paper to organize, expo markers to keep track of and pencils to sharpen. With nearly 30 students in my classroom students may get distracted easily causing them to get off task or question what is next. Incorporating the materials on my list can help the students in my classroom stay motivated.
At the heart if it all is students who long for a caring, safe, and organized environment to support their success. With large class sizes students can get lost in the transitions and lose track of their thoughts. The more organized the space of the classroom is, the more organized students can be with their personal learning and creativity goals.
