This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second-grade students are naturally curious, full of questions, and eager to explore the world. They thrive when lessons are engaging, hands-on, and connected to real life. As their teacher, I want to deliver high-quality science and social studies instruction that captures their wonder and builds their understanding — but I need the right tools to make that happen.

Project Description:

To better support my students in science and social studies, I’m requesting a collection of professional teacher resource books. These books will help me plan more engaging lessons, integrate hands-on activities, and build cross-curricular connections in ways that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.

I'm hoping to add resources such as:

Science lesson guides aligned with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards)

Social studies curriculum books that cover communities, geography, and history

STEM activity books with low-prep experiments

Strategies for teaching nonfiction reading and writing in content areas

Planning guides that connect literacy to science and social studies themes

With these resources, I’ll be able to create dynamic, thoughtful lessons that go beyond the textbook and truly engage my students. These books will benefit my current class and many more to come.
