Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach the Pacific Tigers, the coolest kindergarteners ever, at a Title I school. They are fearless leaders and advocates who are not afraid to speak their mind or stand up for what is right. They can turn anyones frown upside down and can have you laughing at their silliness for hours. This quarter we will not be able to gather in our classroom and socialize as we did, but throughout distance learning they will have opportunities to learn more about themselves and their peers in various different ways.

They are a close-knit family of learners who care deeply about each other and about the school community.

My Project

In order to keep our students safe and healthy, our school has committed to distance learning for the entirety of our first quarter. Last semester, we were able to thrive through distance learning because of the materials our students were able to receive. It would be great for my students this year to receive the same great things. Since transitioning to home learning, we have learned ways to create and film activities, lessons, read alouds, and much more via video conferencing or other interactive platforms online.

Beginning a new school year, and beginning school for the first time for can be overwhelming.

My hope is to provide each and every one of the scholars in my classroom with a learning pack of materials that they can use to interact with instruction from home. With these materials, our students will be able to stay engaged in their lessons with us and participate as if they were back in the classroom that was filled with all the tools they needed. It is imperative that our children are still authentically engaging as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, as the incredible learners that they are! It is my hope that we can give each of our children the tools they need to access this.

Thank you so much!
