My Students

I work in a Title I school and I teach kindergarten, the best grade ever (in my opinion, haha)! Our classroom is a close-knit family of learners built on community, understanding and a joy of learning. We call ourselves the Mills Cyclones and rest assured, my students tackle learning and any challenges they face like a hurricane blazing through the seas. They are a thoughtful, supportive group of learners who strive to learn from one another and do what they can to make sure everyone feels successful in the classroom. They are constantly pushing themselves and each other to exceed classroom expectations and to help each other along the way to success

In the end, they are each unique puzzle pieces that when put together, create one beautiful image.

My Project

As we all know by now, our children are attending school and receiving academic instruction within their own homes- something families and educators had a short amount of time to prepare for. This has pushed our families and educators to think of innovative ways to provide instruction and create authentic learning opportunities for our children with a limited amount of resources. Although we were able to round up books and learning packets to send with our children in a days notice, we were not able to delegate learning materials such as scissors, whiteboards, paper, glue, and others for our kiddos to utilize when engaging with instruction. Since transitioning to home learning, we have learned ways to create and film activities, lessons, read alouds, and much more via video conferencing or other interactive platforms online.

My hope is to provide each and every one of the scholars in my classroom with a learning pack of materials that they can use to interact with instruction from home.

At this moment in time, we are unsure when we will return back to the classroom. In the meantime, it is imperative that our children are still authentically engaging as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, as the incredible learners that they are! It is my hope that we can give each of our children the tools they need to access this.

Thank you so much!
