My Students

My students are active kindergartners that come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my young learners face different challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite their challenges and differences, they enjoy coming together and learning new things.

My students are explorers, builders, inventors, scientists, artists, readers, authors, and most importantly children, children who are filled with energy and a love for learning.

As a fourth year teacher, I desire for all my students to be able to learn through a motivating, engaging, and real world environment. I love the joy these young children have for learning, and I want to provide them with as many different resources as possible. My hope is to foster an environment where each young child that enters my classroom feels the freedom to embrace who they are as they discover a whole new world of learning.

My Project

Mindfulness develops the whole brain and helps children understand their emotions and feelings. The beautifully written and illustrated books I am requesting provide wonderful examples and practices that will help my students manage their emotions and stress more effectively. The sensory materials will aid the children as they calm down when dealing with a surge of emotions such as anger or frustration.

Creating a safe place for my students to learn begins with creating some space for them to breathe.

These tools and the learning that goes with the will help my students be more productive members of the classroom community, as well as in their communities outside the school.
