My Project

My students are creative, passionate, and resilient. Each day they give me a new reason to be proud to be their teacher. Through hard work and determination, we have steadily improved our school’s state test scores, graduation rate, and overall school report card over the past several school years. Witnessing my students strive for greatness, overcome obstacles, and slowly, but surely, help to change the narrative surrounding our urban, public high school has been the biggest privilege.

When people think of the school and community in which I teach, they often make assumptions.

What they don’t know is that my students are some of the most compassionate, intelligent, creative, and incredible young people and that they work every day to better themselves, despite the many challenges they face.

To continue the success we have had in recent years, I want to provide my students with positive incentives as we begin to review and prepare for our upcoming state test. I hope to reward my students who are consistently working hard, and to encourage other students to follow in their footsteps. Additionally, I want to dedicate a study area in my classroom with test prep items geared toward each student’s specific academic needs. Funding this project not only helps prepare my students, but helps to continue on the path toward academic success and changing false narratives.
