Striving for Success with Chromebooks!

My students need 2 Chromebooks in order to participate in online discussions, track homework and test dates, and access apps and websites for remediation and practice.

My Students

Have you ever felt overwhelmed or "in over your head"? My students feel this way too often! My goal is to provide my students with a variety of tools and strategies that will encourage them to keep reaching for the stars, stay motivated, and lessen their anxiety in the classroom.

I teach hard-working, but struggling learners in the general academic curriculum.

They are mainstreamed in all their academics. My students have learning disabilities that include academic deficits as well as difficulty with organization, study skills, and test taking skills. I am passionate about guiding these students and helping them to identify the strategies they need to find success and accomplish their goals. They have big dreams, high expectations, and they are very capable of succeeding with adequate academic supports and accommodations in place.

My Project

Chromebooks will enhance my students' learning in several ways! They will provide my students with the ability to access additional remediation and practice in areas they are struggling. A few of the resources they will be able to use are Khan Academy for math remediation, online textbooks, Edmodo for discussions and tracking assignments, and collaborative word processing and mindmapping through Google Drive. There are numerous apps and websites available for extra practice that the Chromebooks will make accessible for my students! These computers will be used on a daily basis in the Learning Strategies elective that I teach for 7th grade. The portability of the Chromebooks will also allow students to utilize them in my academic support classes. My students will be able to learn and practice skills they need to progress in their academics and boost their confidence! Being confident is a key to success.

Funding these Chromebooks for use in my classroom will benefit the kids immensely.

Students with disabilities need a variety of opportunities and resources at their hands in order to reach their potential and find the success they seek. My students will be so thankful to be able to have specific instruction tailored right for them in the areas of their need. Chromebooks will allow me to do just that!
