My students need an electric violin, strings, an acoustic/electric guitar and other accessories for a string program at our school. I would like to begin an orchestral ensemble and guitar program by 2012!

My Students
Access to a string ensemble will absolutely encourage students to pursue musicianship on string instruments. As the K-8 Music teacher, I feel responsible for instilling an appreciation for the arts and for sharing a diverse musical diet to growing minds.
Our New Jersey students are exposed to diversity in almost every area in their lives, but not all schools can offer a full educational spectrum when it comes to cultural studies and the arts.
As a music teacher, I aim to teach tolerance though the power of music and empower well-rounded young individuals. The future of our nation is sitting in our schools and they need interpersonal learning experiences. String instruments encourage cooperative ensemble playing.
My Project
The electric violin will serve as a model instrument for students to refer to during large group lessons. The amplifier will help carry tone and intonation to students in our classroom and assist in the learning process. Students will find interest in the technology infusion used these lessons and derive incentive to perform using the electric model. The guitar program will need to start very small, but should grow side-by-side the orchestral program.
I would be thrilled to go into 2012 with the very beginnings of a string department in development.
I am confident in the success and longevity of the proposed program because the interest is already here. Students want to play string instruments and play together in an orchestra, I want to open doors to their learning.
