I would like to have a rhythm band set for my students to explore more rhythms than just using their hands, feet, and other body parts. We use rhythm for so many things in my class, this would help make learning to count, recognize patterns, and so much more exciting.

I teach full day Kindergarten & a Preschool/Kindergarten class in our afterschool program. We are a low-income community. This project will impact approximately 40 to 60 students.
I would like to give my students the opportunity to make rhythms using musical instruments as well as with their bodies. Currently, we only have our body parts to create rhythms. What a cool way to hook students on music but by letting them explore musical instruments. The teachers at our school get a small "allowance" to spend on our classrooms. We do well to get the bare necessities. The rhythm band is considered a "nice-i-ty". We could really use your help!
By getting the rhythm band, my students will be able to explore different instruments & rhythms. They will be able to create patterns using rhythms. Learning to count by 1's, 5's, 10's, 25's & 2's using the rhythm instruments will produce a more active learning environment, as the students will create their own rhythms to make it more fun. The instruments will allow the children to learn new ways to sing the alphabet using different rhythms, so that it will be easier to learn alphabetical order as well.
My students are excited about the possibility of getting the musical instruments. They want to experiment with them to see how the instruments sound. They want to find out how loud/soft they can play them, and how many rhythms they can create. Wouldn't it be great to know that you have helped to promote the "arts" in Kindergarten? What a great way to enhance our children's view of music and rhythm. Thanks for your possible support!
