My students need a quality and durable carpet for use during literacy instruction, independent reading, and morning meeting time to build a classroom learning community.
My classroom is filled with curious and diverse young learners who love to learn. As they say, we all have something that we are dealing with. For some of my students, this may mean being food insecure, or even homeless. Other students may struggle academically or socially. However, it is important to note that despite their struggles, my students are kind and love to collaborate and problem-solve as they engage in active learning activities.
Each day with my students brings new adventures and new experiences which we explore together.
It is my goal as a teacher to further extend the love of learning to my students so they are able to not only have successful academic careers, but achieve their own personal goals and dreams.
My Project
Imagine sitting on a thin layer of carpet over a concrete slab. Not too comfortable, is it? I would like to make our morning meeting and literacy space much more comfortable with a durable, quality carpet that will meet the needs of my students for years to come.
The comfort of the carpet will allow my students to focus on instruction and building a community rather than the hard ground.
Our day will begin on the carpet for Morning Meeting. During Morning Meeting time, students greet each other, discuss our message of the day, and build their social skills.
Our time on the carpet continues with literacy instruction. After our reading lesson and read aloud, students are invited to stretch out on the carpet to enjoy a great book of their choosing while working on the skills taught and modeled in the reading lesson.
The requested light filters will add comfort to the reading and classroom experience since fluorescent classroom lighting can cause eyestrain and headaches. These blue light filters provide a cozy setting and make it easier for students to focus and learn. Even better, the light filters are specially designed to easily go over the lights in the classroom with magnets!
Finally, decorative materials and clothespins are necessary to show case student learning products throughout the year for all to see and admire.
