My Students
I have not yet met my students but from what I know about the school, they will be a great bunch. This group of students were in Kindergarten at the height of the pandemic, therefore a lot of foundational concepts may not have gotten the attention they needed due to the circumstances. Because of this, I want to help my students achieve the most they can this year in all subjects, but especially math.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and each has different needs.
A number of my students require resource in reading and math and I also have a student who is learning English as a second language. Overall, I feel that this project will help each of my students grasp the concepts they will learn this coming year.
My Project
The materials I have selected will enhance my student's ability to make mathematics more concrete and will help them soar as they prepare for future grades. Each item gives students a chance to practice the skills they are required to learn in second grade. For example, students need to learn to tell time. I included a class set of clocks so students can show the time on their own, as well as practicing reading an analog clock. Along with that, I have included a set of base ten blocks and money that students will be able to use, and I as well on the board. This way, students can see and practice. Overall, each of these materials will allow students to learn the content in a hands-on approach.
